Which conservation strategies work, and which don’t?

Together with the environmental news service Mongabay, we lead the Conservation Effectiveness initiative, which has for goal to bring evidence on the effectiveness of forest conservation strategies closer to those who need it - conservation practitioners, decisions makers, scientists, but also governments and funders.

Each visualization pools evidence on one conservation strategy, such as Reforestation and Forest Restoration. You can click on squares to see brief, non-technical summary of the results from a peer-reviewed publication. You can filter findings (squares) by type of outcome, country, or type of evidence.

Currently, the platform has visualizations for:
